Text to link

Sometimes the thing you need to send is longer than a message and smaller than a document. Paste it, get a link, send the link.

Drop anything. Get a link.

Drag it here, paste it, or press to choose a file. 2L works out what it is and shows it properly.

What you get

Not just somewhere to put it.

The link is the easy part. What matters is the page on the other end of it.

Type into the box

There is no separate "text mode". The same box that takes files takes typing, and what you paste is what decides the page you get.

Readable, not raw

Set at a proper measure with real line height, so a long paste is something a person can actually read rather than a wall of monospace.

Copy and download

One button copies the whole thing, another saves it as a .txt. The plain-text original is always one click away.

Questions

About text to link

How much text can I paste?
Up to a megabyte from the box, which is roughly 150,000 words. Longer than that, upload it as a file.
Will it try to format my text?
Only if the text is asking for it. Paste something with Markdown headings and it renders as Markdown; paste something with commas in a grid and it becomes a table; paste prose and it stays prose. If the guess is wrong, the page has a control to see the raw text.
Can I make it disappear after being read?
Yes. Burn-after-reading is available on every account: the first person to open the link sees it, and the link is gone afterwards.
Is it private?
It is unlisted and not indexed. For anything genuinely sensitive, add a password — and remember that anyone holding the link can open it.
Everything else

The same box takes all of it.

There is no format menu anywhere in this product. These pages exist because people search for them, not because 2L works differently for each one.
